Alternate LinnDrum Samples
Vice is a unique sample pack featuring rare LinnDrum samples sourced from alternate EPROMs. This collection is a hidden gem for producers aiming to infuse their tracks with authentic 80s drum sounds, distinct from the factory LinnDrum samples found in numerous other sample packs. The LinnDrum, released in 1982, was a pioneering drum machine, one of the first to utilize digital samples for realistic drum sounds. It featured the capability to swap samples by changing the EPROMs (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory chips), the digital chips containing the sample data. This led to the creation of iconic drum sounds, as heard in Shout by Tears for Fears and the Miami Vice Theme by Jan Hammer. Vice recreates this aesthetic by offering high-quality WAV samples recorded from these alternate EPROMs, providing an authentic sound but with all the modern quality-of-life features offered by modern DAWs and samplers.
Sample Pack
The Vice Sample Pack offers 326 one-shot WAV samples for use in any sampler, DAW or beatmaking machine of your choice. These samples were recorded directly into a Universal Audio Apollo audio interface and are all neatly labelled and organised by drum type for easy browsing, and include repitched high and low versions.
Ableton Live Pack
In addition to the sample pack, The Vice Ableton Live Pack features Drum Racks and Kits that let you more easily use the Vice samples in your DAW. Each drum sound has an Instrument Rack with a Sampler Selector macro that lets you choose which Vice sample to play. Staple controls like volume, pitch and panning are joined by controls that lett you add randomization to volume and tuning to quickly add humanization to your drum parts. The preset Drum Racks feature bus effects that you you easily shape the tones and dynamics, as well as add some 80s-staple gated reverb to the snares and toms.
The Ableton Live pack features a total of 14 single hit Instrument Racks with Macro controls to choose individual samples and 5 Drum Racks ready to drop into a project for quick inspiration. The Ableton Live Pack also includes patches for Logic Pro X’s Sampler, FL Studio’s FPC and Studio One.

Requirements
The Vice Sample Pack download contains 326 16bit/44.1kHz WAV format samples that are compatible with any DAW software or beat machine (Ableton, FL Studio, Logic, Reason, MPC, Maschine, Studio One, Bitwig, etc).
To use the Vice Ableton Live Pack, you will need one of the following:- Ableton 10.1 or higher (any edition)
- FL Studio FPC
- Studio One 4 or higher
- Logic Pro X EXS24/Sampler
