Brutalism leans into the raw and unruly character of Arturia MiniBrute V, a compact monosynth with a big sound. The 60 presets in this collection go heavy on the aggressive side of the instrument, using its unique waveforms and feedback-driven filter to create bold basses, sharp sequences, and dirty, distorted tones.
While the original hardware was strictly monophonic, MiniBrute V adds polyphony, so you’ll also find some pads and keys to round things out.
MiniBrute V’s oscillator section is where most of the fun happens. The Ultrasaw waveform fattens up a plain saw with two shifting copies that can drift slowly for movement or speed up into a rough, chorus-like shimmer. The Metalizer waveform twists the triangle wave into jagged, metallic shapes, especially when pushed with modulation.
And then there’s the Brute Factor, a feedback loop that adds anything from a touch of grit to complete mayhem. Many of the patches lean on these features to push the MiniBrute into noisy, abrasive territory.
Most of the pack is built around basses, leads, and sequences, which is where the MiniBrute feels most at home, but there are also some keys and pads for extra variety. Each preset comes with custom macros so you can push the distortion and effects harder or dial them back for a cleaner sound.
Brutalism also comes with an identical bank for Analog Lab, which also works with the free version Analog Lab Play, so the sounds are easy to integrate into any setup.
Below is a more in-depth playthrough of some of the individual presets from the Brutalism pack in Analog Lab. All the sounds are straight from Analog Lab with no extra effects added.
