Airwaves, a new preset pack for GForce Software’s OB-X emulation, is now available. This is my first preset pack for GForce, and it came about after they reached out to me to collaborate—an opportunity I was really excited about. Getting to explore OB-X’s sound design possibilities for an official pack was something I jumped at.
The pack is inspired by the nostalgic soundscapes of ‘90s and 2000s electronic music, drawing from artists like Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Tycho, The Flashbulb, and Casino Versus Japan. It leans into that era’s dreamy, lo-fi textures, with tape-disintegrated pads, smooth analog leads, and distant, warbly basses.
I took full advantage of the OB-X’s deep modulation features, using its independent LFOs and envelopes to dial in subtle tape effects and degradation. The 2-pole filter and PWM modulation really help bring out the warmth and texture, making these sounds feel right at home in modern productions.
Airwaves includes 50 presets and is available now from the official GForce Software store for £14.99.
