I recently worked on some factory preset sound design for GForce Software’s new impOSCar3, which is an updated version of their emulation of the OSCar monosynth, released by the Oxford Synthesiser Company in the early 80s.
The original OSCar, released by the Oxford Synthesiser Company in the early ‘80s, is a bit of a cult classic—partly because of its quirky digital oscillators, but especially because of its one-of-a-kind dual filter. It lets you blend low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass modes in either 2-pole or 4-pole configurations, and you can even split the filter into two resonant peaks for some really wild shaping.
I had a great time pushing that filter to its limits, trying to coax out vowel-like tones and unusual modulations. It sounds fantastic, and it was a pleasure to contribute factory presets to it.
