Little Dark Age

MGMT’s Little Dark Age combined vintage synthesizers, drum machines, and modern production techniques into a darker and more electronic sound than the band’s earlier releases, while still retaining the bright melodic writing and layered arrangements associated with albums like Oracular Spectacular.

These remake projects recreate Little Dark Age, She Works Out Too Much, and Me and Michael inside Ableton Live using Xfer Serum and instruments from the Arturia V Collection, including the synth basses, sequenced arpeggios, drum machine programming, layered analog textures, and modulation-heavy synth patches used throughout both tracks.

What’s Included

Each remake includes two separate ZIP downloads. The first contains the full Ableton Live project with all tracks frozen for compatibility. The second contains multitrack WAV stems for every audio track in the project, along with MIDI files for all MIDI-based parts.

Project screenshots on the right show the arrangement and overall structure of the Ableton Live session. The synths and effects listed below are the third-party VST plugins used in the Ableton Project and are required if you want to fully edit or unfreeze the tracks.
